The Xbox was released almost three years ago, and has already gone on to become
the second best selling system behind Sony’s juggernaut, the Playstation
2. Sporting much better graphics and sound, a built in hard drive, and the
most comprehensive and exciting online console experience currently offered,
it is easy to see why the box has become so popular. If you haven’t
already found out why the Xbox should be considered the reigning king of the
market, then let us at Newbie try to enlighten you with the top reasons to
purchase an Xbox this year.
As the last console of this generation to be released, the people at Microsoft
had plenty of time to tweak and change their system before releasing it to
the public. During this time, Microsoft not only added new features such as
a built in Ethernet modem and a 80 GB hard drive, but also created arguably
the best launch title of all time in Halo. Many people credit Halo to be the
only reason that Microsoft stayed in the market for so long after posting
losses and slow sales on it’s system. They quickly built a steady lineup
of games, and delivered cross console games in the most realistic way. No
one is able to deny that when a game comes out for multiple systems that the
Xbox version will always sport the best graphics and sound and feature less
annoying load times because of the hard drive.
As if the quality of games wasn’t enough to drive people to the Xbox,
the fact that the online play is so phenomenal and makes the other consoles
look prehistoric will. In Xbox live, players can not only play a multitude
of games online, but also join and create clans with their friends, view rankings,
and download new content for games that can keep them fresh much longer then
the usual shelf life. Xbox Live started kits include not only a subscription,
but also a communicator headset that can help players talk and caht while
playing online. It’s a great way to make new friends, or talk trash
to people who deserve it.
Although some people think that the new generation of systems will be out
soon and may choose to wait for them, there has never been a better time to
pick up an Xbox then right now. There is no definite release date for the
new systems, and when they do launch, will sport enormous price tags that
will not even be close to what the current one are selling for. Couple this
with the fact that Microsoft has been giving away games with the new systems,
and you will soon come to realize why the Xbox is the perfect gift for any
occasion.
