Subwoofers are not a product that is purchased due to its looks, they are made with one purpose in mind and it is this on which they are judged. However, if it has to sit in the corner of your room, then perhaps aesthetics could play a part if you are undecided between several models. This Yamaha model does indeed differ in looks from most models, with its separate built in 'feet' and chrome-look side mounted controls and side exiting port. But its design is not only to attract those who find the unit's looks important. No, this is a downward firing 8 " subwoofer and the 'feet' assist in the spread of the sound. The woofer is powered by an internal 120w amplifier and gives an impressive, smooth sound. High amplifier power assures enough power to deliver shattering movie theater-like bass effects, and the down firing 8-inch cone driver translates the power into clear bass sound.
