Video Game Controllers and PC Game Controllers

By Jason “The Southern Dandy” Dahlin

Picking a good controller is as, if not more, important then picking a mate. If you are a dedicated gamer like myself, you will probably spend much more time with old grey (my favorite GameCube controller) then with your current boyfriend. In fact I have lost many a male companion over their jealous rage of my unwavering grip on “my precious”. With that in mind, there are many options at your disposal, each with their pros and cons. Just remember that when you choose a good controller, you may be choosing a friend for life, something that my ex Brett could never seem to understand.

I believe that most controllers that are created by the video game manufactures themselves tend to be superior then those of third party developers. That being said those developed by the actual manufacturers (I mean Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft) are almost always more expensive. It is a trade off that you will have to understand when shopping for your new companion.

Some controllers come with fancy features like turbo and fans that keep the palms from becoming sweaty (something that I tend to actually like). These features tend to only be used occasionally, and may raise the price of a mediocre piece of hardware. Although they may sound and look cool, they may not actually do anything that will prove to be beneficial, and one must keep that in mind.

The new trend in controllers seems to be the loss of wires. There are models available to every system that will keep you from becoming tangled and possibly hanging yourself, and if you want to be cool, there is nothing hipper then jumping up and down on your bed in while playing Mario Kart with nothing on but a smile. You should try it, as it is very invigorating and only available with the latest in wireless technology.

Hopefully by now you have realized that video game controllers are maybe the most important part of a good gaming experience. In order to keep a tight grip on your stick, read Newbie.net’s reviews that will keep you informed and in the game (with not to mention the best darn prices available!)
